1.	 What was the time setting? (1a) What did Jesus know? (1b) At this critical time, what was in Jesus' heart? (1c) To what extent did he show his love? What can we learn here about the character of Jesus' love? (Heb13:8) 




2.	 On the other hand, what was the devil doing behind the scenes? (2) What made Judas Iscariot especially vulnerable to the devil? (12:6; 6:60-64,70-71) 




3.	 What did Jesus know about who he was and where he was going? (3) How did he use his God-given power and authority? (4-5; 17:2; 2Co13:10b) What can we learn from him about how to use authority?




4.	 How did Peter react? (6) What does this show about him? What did Jesus say? (7) What attitude did he teach Peter? How did Peter object? (8a) What problem in him did this expose? How did Jesus insist on washing Peter's feet? (8b) How did he explain the meaning and necessity of his washing? (Ac22:16) 




5.	 How did Peter respond? (9) According to Jesus, why did he not need an entire body wash? (10-11) What is the spiritual meaning of being "clean"? (15:3) Of having one's feet "washed" daily? (1Jn1:9)




6.	 Through his own example, how did Jesus revolutionize his disciples' concept of leadership? (12-15) What does it mean to "wash" one another's dirty feet? (Php2:3-6; Mk10:43-45; Col3:13) Why must we do this? (Read verses 14-15.) How can we apply this in our personal life and ministry?
